Gary Neville absolutely savages Aleksandar Kolarov during halftime analysis of Brazil v Serbia

Go on Gaz, tell us what you really think.

Gary Neville did not hold back during ITV’s coverage of Brazil’s Group E closeing fixture against Serbia in Moscow.

The former Man United full-back heavily criticised Aleksandar Kolarov for his role in Brazil’s opening goal.

Unfiltered

Paulinho opened the scoring after he latched onto a wonderful chipped throughball from Barcelona team-mate Philippe Coutinho.

The former Spurs midfielder started his run from deep and Neville lambasted Kolarov for not covering the run.

He even went as far as to suggest that such an error was as unforgivable as any a full-back could make.

Paulinho breaks from deep Coutinho spots him and plays a perfect pass Paulinho has plenty of space in the channel between the centre-backs and Kolarov The Barca midfielder flicks it past the onrushing keeper 1-0 Brazil!

Replays showed that Kolarov would have had to have anticipated Paulinho’s run before the Brazilian even set off if he were to get back in time.

Perhaps Neville was suggesting he should have shifted across when both centre-backs were occupied by Gabriel Jesus’ movement.

Not best pleasedReuters

Neville then went on to give a damning assessment of the Serbia captain’s defensive credentials as a whole.

“He will score and assist you four goals but make you concede 14,” he said.

“He’s a winger, not a defender.

“You cannot trust him.”

Ouch.

Gary Neville does not like Kolarov

— Throat Wobbler Mangrove (@MrShins) June 27, 2018

Gary Neville just said what I've been saying for years. #Kolarov is a winger. Said this when he was a City player.

— Jordan (@ActionJordan_) June 27, 2018

What's Neville on??? Kolarov had no chance in reacting to that Paulinho run

— stupid foul (@LovUtd) June 27, 2018

Neville talking shit, Kolarov would have done well to cut that out. It was a great run and pass was right in his path.

— OneBobbyPires! (@PatricoZab) June 27, 2018

Kolarov: *positions himself poorly for brazil's goal*
Gary Neville: you can't trust him, costs you 10 goals a season, a winger really, bald fraud, the reason trump won, killed my wife, deserves to burn in hell

— sweet lozenge 🔴 (@LozzaAnd) June 27, 2018

Was Neville a bit harsh on Kolarov?

A hint of old Manchester derbies seeping through perhaps?

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Russia — It looked like a defeated army surrendering to the enemy, humiliated. Grim faces avoiding eye contact, parading behind their leader to an uncertain fate. Russia on brink of last 16 at World Cup, beats Egypt 3-1

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia  — Two wins, eight goals and almost certainly a place in the knockout stage for first time since the Soviet era. Why is this Iran player allowed to wear pink boots against Morocco?

Iran isn’t exactly a country known for it’s flair is it?

Which is why we were left wondering when we saw their centre-back lining up with a pair of pink boots against Morocco today.

First things first, they clash completely with Iran’s white kit.

DREAM TEAM WORLD CUP It’s not too late to sign up to this summer’s brilliant game!! Flair move from the defenderAFP or licensors

But there is a much more important reason that you may well have missed.

Iran were supposed to be clad with the finest technology in football boots from their partners Nike.

However, because of Donald Trump tearing up the Iran nuclear deal, the sanctions meant that Nike, a US company, cannot supply shoes to the Iranian national team.

That’s according to a statement from the company.

This is what we’re here forAFP

But according to legal experts it may not be a legal requirement but more of a boycott from Nike, but we’re not the judge of that.

What it did mean though, is that we saw the Iran players in a refreshing mix and match of boots during the game against Morocco in Saint Petersburg.

All the other 31 teams are signed up on boots deals which means they have to stick to the supplied ‘World Cup’ boots by their sponsor.

But this Iran team had all sorts of cleats on show, with some lovely colourful Nikes, to the latest in bitter rival Adidas’ collection.

It is fair to say Iran manager Carlos Quieroz was not happy at all with the way his side had been treated.

“I’ve never, in all my career, seen players deliver so much after receiving so little as I have with these Iran boys,” Queiroz said.

“We struggle to travel, to have training camps, to bring opponents, to buy equipment,” he added.

“Even buying shirts is a challenge, but these challenges helped me fall in love with Iran.

“These difficulties become a source of inspiration to the people, it makes them more united, to fight for their country.

“These boys deserve a smile from the rest of the world.”

World Cup fantasy football: These brilliant players have just been added to the game

With the World Cup finally upon us, it’s time to dive into fantasy football with Dream Team’s World Cup game.

Remember, it’s completely free to play and there’s a tasty £175k jackpot to be won, so what are you waiting for?

DREAM TEAM WORLD CUP It’s not too late to sign up to this summer’s brilliant game!! Russia got off to a flyerGetty Images - Getty

To make things even better, we’ve just added a host of new players to the game that can be picked RIGHT NOW.

And to help you decide, we’ve picked seven of the best new faces that could make a serious difference to your line-up.

7 Lucas Hernandez – £2.0m

AP:Associated Press Will Hernandez make it into your fantasy football team?[/caption]

Hernandez has been a favourite at Atletico Madrid this season and will seemingly be an important member of France’s World Cup squad.

He’s also impressively cheap.

6 Corentin Tolisso – £2.0m

Reuters Two markers? No problemo[/caption]

Tolisso made headlines last summer when he joined Bayern Munich from Lyon, breaking the transfer record for a German club in the process.

And the Frenchman proved to an important member of their Bundesliga-winning side, scoring 10 goals in all competitions and slotting in rather well between James Rodriguez and Thiago Alcantara.

5 Giovani Lo Celso – £2.0m

AFP or licensors What can we expect from this creative midfielder?[/caption]

Rather surprisingly, this guy has been a mainstay in Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield this season.

Formerly a No. 10, Lo Celso has reinvented himself as an all-round central midfielder for the Ligue 1 champions and he could be one to watch at the World Cup.

4 Lucas Torreira – £2.0m

EPA Arsenal fans should be very excited[/caption]

Arsenal fans take note, because this guy is very close to joining the Gunners this summer.

The Sampdoria midfielder had a blockbuster season in Serie A, ending the campaign with a WhoScored rating of 7.17 and is a wanted man by new Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

Considering Uruguay have been drawn into a group with Russia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the South American’s could run riot with him pulling the strings.

3 Fred – £2.5m

EPA Marcelo’s picking Fred for his fantasy football team[/caption]

While we’re fairly confident Torreira will be turning out in the Premier League next season, Fred is already a done-well.

Man United confirmed the signing of the Brazilian earlier this month and we’re pretty excited to see him alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in United’s midfield next season.

In the meantime, we’ll be keeping a close eye on him in Russia, but just how much he’ll play for Brazil we really don’t know – but we reckon he’s well worth a place in the team just for his skill from set-pieces alone.

2 Rodrigo – £2.5m

EPA Rodrigo could be a big threat for Spain[/caption]

Remember him, Bolton fans?

Rodrigo had a fairly uneventful season in the north-west during the 2010-2011 season, but has grown into quite a deadly forward for La Liga giants Valencia.

Last season, he hit 16 goals in Spain’s top-flight to help secure his place in the national team and will be hoping to get in ahead of Diego Costa and Iago Aspas in attack.

1 Goncalo Guedes – £3.0m

AP:Associated Press How many will Guedes score at the World Cup?[/caption]

From one Valencia star to another.

Guedes was one of the most exciting youngsters to play in La Liga last season, having joined Los Che on a season-long loan in the summer.

His early-season form was particularly impressive and he’s been a rumoured Arsenal and Liverpool target for the last year, while he’s more than likely to be a starter for Portugal at the World Cup.

You may have missed the first game – but that doesn’t mean you miss out on Dream Team World Cup

We’ve got some good news for those poor timekeepers among you that didn’t quite sign up to play Dream Team World Cup before the opening game kicked off.

The curtain raiser saw the two lowest ranked sides in the tournament do battle, so as a result the popularity for the players on show was minimal at best.

In fact, no Russian nor Saudi Arabian player has been selected by more than 1% of Dream Team World Cup managers.

That means entering late really isn’t much of a disadvantage at all because very few people have scored any points so far.

Friday is when the tournament really kicks into action though, so make sure you act fast over Thursday night and Friday morning.

DREAM TEAM WORLD CUP It’s not too late to sign up to this summer’s brilliant game!
