We really do feel for Marcus Rashford.
Because believe you me, the Man United youngster discovered the full scale of Jose Mourinho’s wrath in the dressing room at half-time.

In the first-half of United’s clash against Brighton, the 20-year-old had a golden opportunity to set-up teammate Anthony Martial for the opener with an easy-as-you-like tap-in from close-range.

And with two defenders closing in, the England starlet just had to square the ball to an expectant Martial who was wide open at the far post.
But instead, he decided to hold the ball up and go for it himself.

Martial was well in space and open for the pull-back, but Rashford hesitated and almost certainly denied them a goal-scoring opportunity – as Brighton’s defence easily cleared their lines.
It was another poor decision from the youngster and only goes to show why Mourinho isn’t keen on giving him that regular starting role in the team.
Appalling play by Rashford. Mourinho knows as well. Greedy when he should have passed to Martial. The best players give the ball to a teammate in a better position. No excuse for Rashford there. Not decisive enough #MUFC

I want to see Rashford get more chances centrally – but moments like that are what infuriate Mourinho.
Lukaku isn’t everyone’s cup of tea – but more often than not he makes the right decision

That inexplicable pause from Rashford is why Mourinho doesn’t start him with any regularity. Really is poor, expect better from any PL striker there. #mufc

Pogba trying to encourage Rashford after that. Martial was on for the pull-back, despite Rashford despairing about a supposed lack of support. #mufc

Former United favourite Gary Neville summed it up in the commentary box, saying: “Rashford had to play it to Martial, he had to.
“He’s made a mess of it, I really don’t know why he hasn’t pulled it back. Mourinho’s angry and he should be”.
And he’s not wrong.
Mourinho was clearly furious on the touchline and no doubt gave him a stern telling off at half-time.
Prepare for a bit of that old hairdryer treatment, Marcus.
