Dream Team FC
Do Atletico Madrid have the best attacking options in Europe now?

It took Luciano Vietto 36 minutes to complete a debut hat-trick for Valencia with a sumptuous 40-yard lob.

The Argentinian had been at Valencia for less than a week, having arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid.

But why did Atletico let a clearly talented forward join a La Liga rival? Because Diego Simeone’s attacking options are absolutely stacked.

An argument could be made that Atletico now have the deepest attacking unit in Europe.

Let’s start with Simeone’s first choice pairing of Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa.

A perfect blend of guile and guts. Costa creates the chaos from which Griezmann benefits.

Diego hasn’t taken long to start making friends againEPA

Then there’s Angel Correa, who displays typical Argentinian battling spirit combined with devastatingly quick feet.

He’s responded to Costa’s availability by scoring against Getafe and setting up Kevin Gameiro against Lleida Esportiu in the Copa del Rey.

Goals haven’t been free flowing for the 22-year-old since his arrival from San Lorenzo but he’s more than willing to do everything asked of him by Simeone.

If Simeone doesn’t want to turn to Correa then he can call upon Kevin Gameiro.

The Frenchman scored 12 goals in La Liga last season despite often having to settle for a role on the bench.

And how can we forget Mr Atletico Madrid, Fernando Torres.

Then there’s the creative players loading the bullets for Griezmann, Costa, Correa, Gameiro and Torres.

Simeone can turn to Koke, Saul, Yannick Carrasco, or Nicolas Gaitan to provide creativity from out wide, as well as new signing Vitolo.

Atletico have gone from being a side built on Cholismo and defence to one boasting a wealth of attacking talent.

But, with the vultures circling, how long can Simeone keep the unit together for?
