He’s finally done it.

The Uruguayan opened the scoring in PSG’s 4-0 win – his 157th in all competitions for the Ligue 1 giants and his 27th this season – to take him clear of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s previously held tally.

And to celebrate the goal, Cavani duly tore off his shirt and ran into the adoring PSG crowd.

Which, of course, meant the referee had to book him.

But not before congratulating the new record-holder with a very gentlemanly handshake.

The 30-year-old – who’s been a mainstay in the side since joining from Napoli in 2013- has been the club’s main goal-scoring outlet since Zlatan’s departure in 2016.

The forward often found himself thrown out on the wing during Zlatan’s reign at the club, but still managed an impressive feat of notching at least 25 goals-per-season in all competitions since moving to France.

That includes the incredible return of 49 goals in 50 starts last season, when he finally played front and centre for the side.

Meanwhile, today’s win comes at a very good time for PSG, who suffered a last-minute defeat against Lyon in their last Ligue 1 fixture.
